How it works
Five steps, and what each one actually involves.
No part of this is designed to be mysterious. Here is the whole process, including the bits that usually take the longest.
How is this different from a comparison site?
A comparison site ends at the quote and leaves the analysis to you. Alcove narrows the results to genuinely comparable options, keeps a licensed advisor available for the decisions that need one, and handles service and renewal after the policy is issued.
Tell us the situation
The property or the vehicle, what has to happen, and by when. If you already have a policy, your declarations page answers most of it in one document.
We shop, then we narrow
The market is shopped widely and the results are ranked against your actual circumstances. You get a short list with the reasoning, not a raw export.
Ask anything
A licensed advisor is available for the parts that need a person, where to set a deductible, whether a limit is enough, what an exclusion actually means.
Coverage is bound
Once you choose, the carrier confirms coverage and proof of insurance is issued and delivered to whoever needs it.
We stay on it
Changes, documents and questions are handled as they come up, and the policy is re-shopped ahead of renewal with a keep-or-switch recommendation.
Timing
Where the time actually goes.
- It is rarely the carrier
- Quoting is fast. The delay is almost always round trips, a detail missing from the application, a roof age nobody knew, a mortgagee clause that comes back slightly wrong and has to be reissued.
- One pass beats five
- The more complete the picture at the start, the fewer times anyone has to come back to you. Your existing declarations page usually answers most of it at once.
- Deadlines drive the order of work
- If a lender, title agency or dealership needs proof by a date, that date sets the sequence, and we tell you early if it is going to be tight rather than on the day.
After you are covered
The part most people never hear about again.
Buying the policy is the short part of the relationship. Service and renewal are the long one.
Insurance is offered and serviced through licensed Partner Agencies, which are insurance agencies, not insurance companies. Coverage is underwritten and issued by third-party insurance carriers. Nothing on this site is an offer or binder of insurance, and no coverage is in force unless and until a carrier issues a policy.
