Where AI is used

Alcove uses artificial intelligence and automated tools to support its services — for example, to assist with marketing, intake, quoting support, document handling, customer service (including chat), and operational analytics.

These tools are designed to keep a qualified human involved in decisions that materially affect your coverage, and they are not used to unfairly discriminate.

When you are talking to a machine

Where Alcove uses an automated chat or conversational tool, it will be identified as such where required, so that you know when you are not communicating with a human.

What AI does not decide

AI-generated outputs are provided for convenience only, may not be accurate or complete, and do not constitute advice of any kind. Coverage, eligibility, premiums, and policy terms are determined solely by the issuing carrier and are governed by the actual policy documents.

A qualified and properly licensed human is involved in decisions that materially affect your coverage to the extent required by applicable insurance law.

Your right to a human

Where required by law, Alcove will tell you if AI or automated decision systems are used in a way that affects you, and maintains governance, testing, and oversight intended to prevent unfair discrimination.

You may request human review of, and may contest, decisions to the extent required by applicable law. To do so, contact us using the details in the Privacy Policy.

The rules this follows

Alcove's use of AI in insurance activities is governed by a growing body of federal and state insurance regulation — including the NAIC Model Bulletin on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems by Insurers and state counterparts, such as Colorado's insurance-AI statute and regulations, New York's Circular Letter on AI and external consumer data, the Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act, and state requirements addressing AI-related notices and the identification of automated chat.

This page summarises the AI provisions of the Alcove Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. Where this summary and those documents differ, the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions govern.
